Hezbollah’s Response

Hezbollah, a group based in Lebanon, claims it has carried out drone attacks on Israeli bases near the city of Acre. This action was taken in retaliation for the killing of one of its members. Hezbollah launched a combined drone attack using both decoy and explosive drones, targeting two Israeli bases located between Acre and Nahariyya.

Israeli Response

The Israeli military stated that it was unaware of any of its facilities being hit by Hezbollah. However, earlier reports mentioned that Israel intercepted two “aerial targets” off its northern coast. Additionally, there were reports of Israeli air raids hitting a residential area in the southern Lebanese town of Hanin, resulting in casualties.

Casualties and Confirmed Deaths

Reports from Lebanon’s official news agency indicate that at least two people were killed and six others injured in the Israeli air raid on Hanin. On the same day, the Israeli military announced that its air raids in southern Lebanon resulted in the deaths of two Hezbollah fighters. Hezbollah later confirmed the death of one of its fighters, Hussein Azkoul.

Ongoing Conflict

The conflict between Hezbollah and Israel has escalated since Hamas initiated an attack on October 7, prompting Israel’s response in Gaza. Since then, there have been frequent exchanges of fire between Hezbollah and the Israeli army. Israeli attacks have led to the deaths of approximately 270 Hezbollah fighters and around 50 civilians. In retaliation, Hezbollah’s rocket and drone fire have resulted in the deaths of about a dozen Israeli soldiers and a similar number of civilians. The ongoing shelling has also displaced tens of thousands of people on both sides of the conflict.
